Dr. Walia's Skin and Laser Clinic is being run by Dr. Parmjit Singh Walia. Dr. Walia did his MBBS from Govt. Medical College, Amritsar (Punjab, India) in 1992-97 batch. He completed his MD in Dermatology, Venerology and Leprology in 2001.
He
started his career by serving the society as Medical Officer Incharge
of Aid Awareness Group for truckers at Amritsar (Punjab, India) where
he was responsible for making them aware of and treat various sexually
transmitted diseases alongwith HIV. During his tenure at AAG (Aids Awareness
Group), Dr. Walia developed keen interest
in the field of Dermatology and Venerology and joined Guru Nanak Dev Hospital
at Amritsar (Punjab,India) as a Resident in the department of dermatology.
He worked on various projects for three years in that Department. He has
keen interest in the field of Cosmetology and Dermatosurgery.
He has also done voluntary services in the under developed areas in Tarn Taran.. Thereafter, he joined Fortis Multispeciality Hospital in Mohali (near Chandigarh, India) as Consultant Dermatologist in April 2002 and also started his own practice under the name of Dr Walia's Skin & Laser Clinic at Mohali (adjoining Chandigarh). The desire to serve is so strong in him that he also finds time to visit the underserved areas in Sirhind, Morinda and 34 Sector Gurudwara at Chandigarh once a week. He has come a long way in the field of Cosmetology by adding the facility of permanent hair removal by ND-Yag laser, microdermabrasion, radiofrequency, chemical peels etc. at his clinic.
By installing the ND-Yag laser, he has joined the elite club of Dermatologists in India who have this facility in their clinic which was till now being handled by non Dermatologists in some beauty clinics. This has benefited not only the local residents but has also proved beneficial for NRIs who are availing this facility at economical rates as compared to their own countries.
